The apparatus for encoding the directional audio encoding parameters containing the scattering parameters and the direction parameters comprises a parameter quantiser (210) for quantising the scattering parameters and the direction parameters, a parameter encoder (220) for encoding the quantised scattering parameters and the quantised direction parameters, and an output interface (230) for forming a representation of the encoded parameters containing information on the encoded scattering parameters and the encoded direction parameters.

EFFECT: creation of a method for encoding three-dimensional audio based on the DirAC acoustic representation and playback for transmitting immersive audio content at low bit rates.
