SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and apparatus for transmitting system information on demand. System information is classified into integral and optional system information. Inherent information is periodically transmitted, and optional system information is broadcast in response to a request from the UE. Thus, system information can be provided in an operative and efficient manner, thereby saving significant resource and energy, especially in case of no load or low load.
EFFECT: elimination of useless consumption of energy and resources, which is caused by the fact that MIB and SIB are periodically broadcast even when there is no terminal near BS.
