SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a steam iron for treating clothes, comprising a heel for positioning a steam iron on a support surface (S), when the steam iron does not treat the clothing, a pressure boost unit has a chamber containing a water inlet for receiving water and an outlet for water. Pressure boost unit is designed in such a way that in the initial position (P1), in which the heel is located on the support surface (S), it generates air vacuum in the chamber for sucking water into the chamber through the water inlet, and in the raised position (P2), in which the heel is not located on the support surface (S), increases the pressure of water sucked into the chamber. Steam iron also contains a steam engine for generating steam from water to clothing and an exhaust water channel for moving pressurized water from the water outlet to the steam engine.

EFFECT: present invention provides a slight increase in water pressure in the chamber, in turn, to increase steam generation.
