SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of data transmission, in particular to provide video content containing music or other sound that can be perceived separately from the visual content of video. A method for selecting the content to be presented, including: receiving the first object request with video content from the user device; receiving an indication that the user device is in background playback mode; determining that the first object with video content is not suitable for background playback based on one or more properties of the audio data; based on the determination that the first object with video content is not suitable for presentation in the background playback mode, the selection of the second object with video content that is suitable for presentation in the background playback mode, based on the specified one or more properties of the audio data of the second object with video content; and in response to the choice of a second object with video content providing a representation of the second object with video content through the user device.
EFFECT: ensuring that provided video content is suitable for audio playback only.
