FIELD: computer equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to user interfaces, in particular to determining colors of user interface components within user interface of video player based on content of displayed video clip. Disclosed is a user interface adaptation module, which identifies the prevailing frame color of the video clip and, based on the prevailing color, generates colors for user interface components in which the video clip is displayed. Colors of the user interface components are set based on the generated colors and context information, such as the state of playing the video clip. Setting colors of components according to this principle provides the user interface with the possibility of adjustment to supplement both the reproduced video content and the context of the video clip. Predominant color is identified by dividing individual frame pixels based on their respective colors. In one version, a set of varieties of the primary color is formed based on the predominant color and different colors are formed for each type of the user interface component based on different varieties of the primary color.
