FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining and can be used to determine resistance of rocks to brittle fracture. Proposed method comprises exposure of rock to hard-alloy indenter with subsequent fixation of force at brittle fracture of rock. Indenter represents a straight circular cylinder, the diameter of which is equal to its length, and ends of the cylinder have rounding with radius equal to the radius of the cylinder. Said indenter interacts with the rock in the well along the cylinder generatrix, which is directed parallel to the generatrix of the cylindrical surface of the well.
EFFECT: technical result consists in providing the possibility of making measurements in well conditions and reducing labor intensity of research.
