FIELD: printing industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protective elements used for authentication of printed products. Protective element contains a polymer substrate coated with a transparent or semitransparent UV-cured lacquer without a relief layer containing flat flake-like pigment microparticles with a surface-coloured layer. Size of flakes in plane is 10–100 mcm. Microparticles are arranged so that their coloured surfaces are collinear and form equal angles with the plane of the substrate over the entire surface or in specified non-overlapping regions. Microparticles in the lacquer layer do not overlap each other and are contained in a concentration which ensures transparency of the protective element at level of 50–70 %. Images are recorded in a protective element by laser radiation on a surface-coloured layer to form images detected during visual inspection.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of the image quality of the protective element and simplification of the process of authenticating the product containing the protective element.
