FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing isoprene on iron oxide catalysts in an adiabatic reactor by dehydrogenation of isoamylenes at temperature of 580–630 °C in the presence of superheated steam, involving simultaneous overheating of two streams of steam to obtain corresponding streams of superheated water steam at temperature of 550–750 °C and direction of first stream of superheated water steam for mixing with isoamylenes before dehydration. Second stream of superheated steam in amount of 10–40 wt% of steam supplied to reactor is fed to coil located in catalyst layer at height of 10–80 % of total height of catalyst layer and having heat exchange surface equal to 5–95 % of inner surface reactor, wherein steam flow at outlet of coil is fed for mixing with first steam flow directed for overheating and mixing with isoamylenes.
EFFECT: high technical and economic indices of the process of producing isoprene by dehydrogenation of isoamylenes on iron oxide catalysts in an adiabatic reactor with simultaneous reduction of specific consumption of water steam and preservation of high activity and selectivity of the process.
