SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Group of inventions includes a computer-implemented method of operating a system for treating diabetes, a system for treating diabetes and an insulin pump control device. System comprises an insulin pump configured to selectively deliver insulin into the patient's body and a pump control device comprising a communication component. Communication component is configured to perform two-way communication between the insulin pump and the pump control device. Input component is configured to receive a request for an insulin pump to perform an operation that depends on the presence of the insulin pump in the preset state. Processor is configured to request an insulin pump on its current state by means of a communication component to receive information from an insulin pump on its current state, with the possibility of determining whether the current state of the insulin pump matches its preset state. Also, it is possible to send an insulin pump by means of a communication component of the command to perform the specified operation when determining the match of the current state of the insulin pump with its preset state. Insulin pump comprises a switch which controls its operating state. In determining the mismatch of the current state of the insulin pump with its predetermined condition, the processor of the pump control device provides, via the communication component, an additional instruction sending the insulin pump to actuate said switch to change the current state of the insulin pump to the predetermined one.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to automatically and efficiently operate the system for treating diabetes by determining mismatch of the current state of the insulin pump with its preset state, presence of a switch in the insulin pump, which controls its operating state.
