SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, particularly to endocrinology. To deliver insulin to a patient, information about the amount of insulin to be delivered to the patient is received, and delivery of insulin to the patient begins. Insulin delivery is monitored to determine whether the insulin pump is able to deliver the entire amount of insulin and a timer is used to measure the time elapsed until the insulin pump recommences the delivery of insulin. Time indicated by the timer is compared to threshold time. If the time indicated by the timer is less than the threshold time, a first insulin delivery record is created, indicating that a first amount of insulin was delivered, and if the time indicated by the timer is greater than the threshold time, a second insulin delivery record is created indicating that a second amount of insulin was delivered.

EFFECT: method enables to determine which increase in blood glucose level as a result of food intake will be acceptable, if no additional insulin intake is considered.
