SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to superconducting coils for a magnet. Apparatus includes a first electrically conductive coil having first and second coil sections, which are separated and spaced from each other, and support structure arranged to support first and second coil sections. Support structure and the corresponding method of supporting the electrically conductive coil retain the relative axial positions of the first and second sections of the coil fixed when the power is supplied and the power is disconnected at the first electrically conductive coil.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of coil.
