SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for bandwidth extension for acoustic signals. Demultiplexing encoding parameters, index information identifying the most correlated part of low-frequency spectrum for one or more high-frequency sub-ranges, and scale factor information from the encoded information transmitted from the encoding device which encodes the audio signal. High-frequency subband spectrum is duplicated based on the index information using the synthesized low-frequency spectrum, wherein the synthesized low-frequency spectrum is obtained by decoding encoding parameters. Amplitudes of the duplicated spectrum of the high-frequency subband are adjusted using scale factor information. Frequency of the harmonic component in the synthesized low-frequency spectrum is estimated. Frequencies of the harmonic component are adjusted in the spectrum of the high-frequency subband using the estimated harmonic frequency spectrum.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of expansion of frequency range of input signals to improve audio quality.
