FIELD: calculating; counting.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Method comprises steps of: transmitting, at one or more processing units configured by executable instructions, a data packet to a destination node, wherein data packet contains information on more than one specific node, on which data packet must be sent; and determining the operating state of more than one specific node based at least in part on the result of transmitting the data packet; wherein the method further comprises a step of encapsulating, at least a plurality of times, at least a first packet into a second packet and a second packet into a third packet to form a transmitted data packet, wherein information on at least one of specific nodes includes number of transit sections, through which data packet passes from node, which sends data packet, to at least one of specific nodes.

EFFECT: technical result is efficient identification of failed device.
