FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of pest control. In the method of killing a Colorado potato beetle with ionizing radiation, potato cluster tops with potato beetles located thereon at an early stage of development are bombarded with a beam of relativistic electrons. Device for killing a Colorado potato beetle is a tractor with a microtron and a motor-generator mounted thereon. Microtron is equipped with a magnetic channel for outputting a beam of relativistic electrons and a scanistor. Proposed scanistor is made up of rotary electromagnet. Method of destroying insect-parasite wintering in potato tubers provides potato irradiation γ-radiation. Potatoes are folded in a field into a rectilinear collar. Device for destroying insect pests is moved along the collar to direct a radiation beam onto the collar. Device for pests insects destruction consists of tractor with installed microtron and motor-generator. Microtron is equipped with magnetic channel for output of beam of relativistic electrons. Tungsten target is installed at channel output for electron beam conversion in γ-radiation.
EFFECT: possibility of effective, harmless destruction of insect pests.
