FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: method of treating water by filtration on a layer of granular material comprises steps of, at which treatment water is pumped in a reactor with an upward flow at a rate not allowing fluidisation of said layer, but allowing said granular material to move as filtered towards the lower part of said reactor; in reactor base by means of pipeline, in which gas is injected, continuously contaminated granular material containing adsorbed contaminants and delayed particles; selected contaminated granular material is continuously or periodically subjected to physical cleaning; cleaned granulated material is directed back into the above layer. Method further includes a step, carried out continuously or intermittently, during which, during filtration, removing a portion of contaminated granular material withdrawn in the reactor base, removing said portion from a pipeline which is mounted outside the reactor housing; and continuously or periodically performed step, during which, during filtration, fresh granular material is loaded into reactor in amount sufficient to compensate for part of removed granulated material. Granular material is adsorption material.

EFFECT: invention enables to remove organic substances and micro-contaminants from water using granular adsorption material, which can be replaced without resorting to processing interruption, maintain water treatment level substantially constant over time, reduce treatment costs, eliminate use of coagulants or flocculants, exclude sludge formation.
