SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engine exhaust gases treatment devices. Disclosed is a method of processing exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine (10), which is supplied with fresh air by means of compressor (18) and comprises adjustable valve timing device (12) for inlet valves (14) and/or outlet valves (16) and is connected to gas outlet channel (20). In gas outlet channel (20) there located is first three-way catalyst (24), and in direction of waste gas flow of internal combustion engine (10) downstream of outlet (22) of internal combustion engine (10) and upstream of first three-way catalyst (24) injection valve (26) for feeding fuel into gas vent channel (20). Method comprises following steps: operation of internal combustion engine (10) in blowdown mode, input of superstoichiometric waste gas into gas vent channel (20), metered supply of fuel into gas outlet channel (20) upstream of first three-way catalyst (24) so that stoichiometric exhaust gas appears at inlet of first three-way catalyst (24), and treating stoichiometric exhaust gas by first three-way catalyst (24).
EFFECT: increasing torque at low rotation speeds and simultaneously providing possibility of high-efficiency treatment of exhaust gases by means of three-way catalyst.
