FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of precision measurements of density of liquid, gas-liquid and gaseous media during their pumping and storage. Method of measuring density of medium includes weighing of non-filled pycnometer, made in form of cylinder with piston inside and connected by means of rod with strain gage, after which above-piston cavity of pycnometer is filled with hydraulic fluid, and in under piston cavity of piston pycnometer under excessive pressure medium is supplied, then, by acting under medium pressure, piston is lifted, wherein back pressure of hydraulic fluid in above-piston cavity, by means of its overflow from above-piston cavity of pycnometer into storage container, is gradually reduced, after filling the cavity of the piston pycnometer with the medium to be measured and the piston reaches the preset position, the pycnometer is weighed with the medium by means of a strain gage and by difference of weights of the non-filled and pycnometer with the measured medium, the density of the medium is determined.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide for the possibility of cyclic measurements in a short interval of time and control of metrological characteristics of working devices for density measurements during their operation without stopping the technological process in the place of installation and in laboratory conditions.
