FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of silver coatings. Composition for chemical silvering of glass includes a first water-ammonia solution of silver nitrate, mixed with a second aqueous solution containing hydroxides of alkali metals and an alkali metal halide, a silver reducer and a water-soluble protein. At that, the second aqueous solution additionally contains ammonia, and as the silver reducing agent it contains one polyatomic alcohol in the form of sorbitol or xylitol and one amino saccharide in the form of N-methylglucamine, sodium gluconate, glucosamine acid or D-glucamine, and water-soluble protein - in the form of gelatine, agar-agar or sodium caseinate.
EFFECT: disclosed composition enables to obtain uniform silver coatings with density of more than 700 mg/m2 and light reflection coefficient of not less than 85 %.
