FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical equipment, namely to an absorbent separator for a lead-acid battery. Proposed separator has no conductive electrical layers and is an excellent insulator for electronic conductivity. High porosity of separator increases speed of impregnation with electrolyte, in volume of which charged ions of sulphates and lead oxides move, providing good ionic conductivity. Ratio of sizes of gas channels or pores of separator located perpendicular to plane of separator, and dimensions of pores lying in plane of separator is 4÷8 to 1, wherein said ratios of pore size provide preferential flow of electrolyte in horizontal direction.
EFFECT: increased service life of battery with such separator.
