FIELD: aviation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engineering, particularly, to devices providing start of gas turbine engine. Disclosed is a method of starting a gas turbine engine by means of a starter. Magnetoelectric generator own turbine is rotated to drive magnetoelectric generator itself. Power generated by the magnetoelectric generator is used to supply an electric motor which functions as a starter, and the gas turbine engine shaft is untwisted to the required rotation frequency. Thus, the duration of the starter operating conditions required for the gas turbine engine start is provided, after which the gas turbine engine is started. At that, magnetoelectric generator contains stator, in which concentrically to boring there is rotor with constant magnets, and winding. Stator has internal and external grooves, and winding is toroidal and is located inside internal and external slots with possibility of heat removal due to large area of contact with base and side faces of stator slots, as well as due to open design of external slots.
EFFECT: considerable reduction of mass of gas turbine engine start-up system, as well as improvement of reliability of electric start-up under conditions of extremely low and extremely high temperatures due to use of high-speed magnetoelectric generator with own gas turbine operating in short-term mode.
