FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for industrial production of N-methyl-4-benzylcarbamidopyridinium iodide, involving a first step, on which isonicotinic acid benzylamide is obtained by reacting isonicotinic acid and benzylamine when heated with distillation of water and excess benzylamine with subsequent cooling of reaction mass to temperature of 80–100 °C and dissolving while stirring in toluene, filtering the hot solution, cooling it to form a N-benzylamide-4-pyridinecarboxylic acid precipitate, a second step, on which isonicotinic acid benzylamide is alkylated with methyl iodide in a solvent at high temperature with subsequent cooling of the reaction mass, its filtration and drying, third step, which comprises purifying N-methyl-4-benzylcarbamidopyridinium iodide by treating solution of N-methyl-4-benzylcarbamidopyridinium iodide with activated carbon, followed by separation of coal by filtration, cooling solution and recrystallisation of purified N-methyl-4-benzylcarbamidopyridinium iodide.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method for industrial production of N-methyl-4-benzylcarbamidopyridinium iodide.
