FIELD: printing equipment.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of measuring registration of multicolor prints on an effective printing surface on the surface of the printed substrate, wherein said multicolor impression is formed on a printing base by means of one or more printing machines and comprises at least a first pattern and a second pattern, different from the first pattern, at that, on the effective printing area in the matrix order there are separate imprints, each of which has a multicolor impression and is repeated along the surface of the effective printing area along the array of rows and columns. Result of measurement of actual register of impressions between first and second patterns on printed base is calculated by processing and finding correspondence between (I) at least one printed image on printed base, covering at least part of first and second figures; and (II) at least one corresponding reference image formed using pre-printing design data for the first and second drawings. This process is repeated for a plurality of separate prints in order to obtain a plurality of measurement results of the actual register of impressions between the first and second patterns in different points of the print on the effective printing area and the set of results of the plurality of measurements is displayed on the corresponding imprints register map, which represents deviation of register of imprints in different places of the impression. Besides, a measuring device for this method and a method of measuring and correcting the register of multicolor printing impressions are described.
