SUBSTANCE: to obtain self-sharpening effect on cutting edges of the tool, a protective shield is first installed on the cutting edge, the tool with the screen is placed into an inductor immersed in a cooling medium containing the following in wt. %: ethylene glycol 15–19, urotropin 0.5–1.5, water is the rest, wherein the medium temperature is maintained from 4 to 8 °C, and the part is heated by cycles 3–5 times, in the temperature range from 1150–1270 °C to 650–730 °C.

EFFECT: invention can be used, in particular, at hardening of cutting tool from low-carbon boron-containing steels.
