FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a solid-propellant charge of a brush structure designed to be used as an energy source in starting jet engines with short operating time used in grenade launchers, flamethrowers and anti-tank guided missiles. Charge of solid fuel is made from a bundle of double- or triple base gun pellets attached to the bottom of the starting jet engine. Each cartridge has an S-shaped cross-section, wherein in the charge the width of the longitudinal gaps is 1.4–2.0 of the thickness of the burning roof in the S-shaped section, and the internal diameter of the section roundness is equal to 2.5–3.0 of the thickness of the burning arch. When using elements of S-shaped section, the strength of the charge as a whole and its resistance to radial loads from the effects of gases of the central ignition device are improved, and also optimum characteristics of combustion without pressure drop on the surface of powder elements (blocks).

EFFECT: charge has higher energy and ballistic characteristics and provides safety of shooter during shooting.
