FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to ophthalmology, neurological ophthalmology, ophthalmoergonomics, engineering psychology. Test subject is presented with visual stimuli-optotypes different in space-frequency and semantic characteristics, and evoked potentials are measured from the occipital, temporal and/or frontal cortical areas. Incentives are filtered in different sections of visible range of spatial frequencies. In the first version of the method, the person being tested is instructed to mark semantic indications of stimuli which do not coincide with those whose response is picked up during the treatment of evoked potentials. Highest spatial frequency of the image of the test optotype, which causes a brain response, is used to determine the resolution and therefore visual acuity of the person being tested. In the second version, the person being tested is instructed to mark physical signs of stimuli.
EFFECT: invention increases objectivity of measuring visual acuity.
