METHOD OF EXPERT EVALUATION OF VISUAL ACUITY Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B3/32

Abstract RU 2727873 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for assessing visual acuity. Test optotypes are presented in random order one by one at different distances using an interactive computer program for computer No. 2015616714. To assess visual acuity in the distance, the optotypes are presented to the person being tested on a monitor or a laptop at distance of 4.0 m from the eye and having a pixel size of not more than 0.5 mm. To assess visual acuity nearby – at distance of 0.40 m and at intermediate distances of 0.60 m and 0.80 m, optotypes are presented on a smartphone screen having a pixel size of not more than 0.045 mm. To automatically record answers, the test subjects use a plate, on which a set of presented optotypes is displayed, characterized by that the kit consists of four black-and-white lattices, each consisting of three dark bands and two light gaps of the same width between them. Outermost strips have the same length, the middle stripe is longer than extreme ones 1.22 times. Lattice is symmetrical about the center of the middle strip. Lattices are presented in four orientations – horizontal, vertical and two diagonal with inclination of strips by 45 degrees to the right and to the left.

EFFECT: method provides the ability to effectively monitor the restoration of visual functions in the patients following the implantation of multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOL) and objectively assess the quality of the implanted lenses by conducting the required number of visual acuity measurements by presenting the test optotypes at different distances using an interactive computer program to increase the rate of patient testing while maintaining maximum accuracy, reliability and reliability of measuring visual acuity.
