SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to agriculture. In the method, cutting of vegetative weeds is performed with cutting strings installed above the plowing depth by value 0.02–0.03 m, in spacing and rows of potato culture in the period of antiphase development of the root system of potatoes and weeds in a zone restricted from above by the root system of potatoes, and from below the plow sole. Proposed device comprises frame with gangs and hill-like stands secured thereon and provided with cutting strings secured on toes of adjacent posts and arranged above plowing depth by 0.02–0.03 m. In even spacings there are two posts for attachment of cutting strings. Distance between the posts and the row axis of the crop makes a value equal to the protective zone during row-to-row processing of 0.15 m, and in the odd spaces between rows one post is installed in the middle of the inter-row space.

EFFECT: inventions allow improving efficiency of harmful weeds elimination in potato plantations without damage to root culture system.
