FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: current-limiting device based on high-temperature superconductivity includes: cylindrical cryostat, made with possibility of its filling with cryogenic medium; installed in cryostat assembly of superconducting current-limiting modules, connected to each other, where each module is made in form of coil of wound high-temperature superconducting tape; protective screen arranged around said assembly coaxially to axis of said assembly and made in the form of hollow cylindrical element with end flanges, where cylindrical element is made of components made in form of elliptic half-torus, and each end flange is made in form of semi-ellipsoid of rotation; supply and discharge isolated current leads, where each current lead is connected by one end to assembly of the above modules, and by the other end – to electric mains.
EFFECT: reduced intensity of electric field between assembly of current-limiting modules and earthed walls of cryostat and, consequently, increased electric strength of current limiter.
