FIELD: processing of materials.

SUBSTANCE: protective frame and method of protecting the edge of the cutout of the elastic sheet relates to the field of making elastic sheet products, namely to protection of the edges of holes and other cuts in such articles from mechanical breaks and temperature deformations. Solutions are intended for reinforcement of edges of cuts, when access to sheet is carried out only from one, front side, for example, during installation of stretch ceilings from elastic plastic or fabric materials. Protective frame is made in the form of resilient elastic body having at least two stable elastic states. In the first stable elastic state, the protective frame has a contact area, which is essentially a double-connected flat figure or a closed curve lying in the plane. At that, the protective frame is made with possibility of its turning through the inner part of the contact area and conversion into the second stable elastic state. Method of protecting the edge of the cutout of the elastic sheet includes a step of connecting the contact area of the protective frame to the sheet when the frame is in the first stable resilient state. Cutout in elastic sheet is made before or after connection of protective frame with sheet. After connection of the frame with the sheet, the frame is turned through the inner part of the contact area and a cutout in the sheet, transforming it into the second stable state.

EFFECT: hiding of protective frame in mounted (working) state within face surface of elastic sheet is achieved; providing a smooth edge of the cutout of the elastic sheet regardless of accuracy of its cutting with a cutting tool.
