SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of purifying hydrocarbon streams containing mercaptans for mercaptans removal, involving the following steps: contacting a first light hydrocarbon stream containing mercaptans with a first alkaline solution for removing mercaptans from the first hydrocarbon stream and forming a second alkaline solution containing mercaptans, wherein said light hydrocarbon stream contains more than 80 wt. %. C3 hydrocarbons, or more than 80 wt. %. C4 hydrocarbons, or more than 80 wt. %. C3 and C4 hydrocarbons; oxidising mercaptans in a second alkaline solution to form a third alkaline solution having a first concentration of disulphide compounds; separating part of disulphide compounds in a third alkaline solution to form a fourth alkaline solution, having a second concentration of disulphide compounds, wherein first concentration of disulphide compounds exceeds second concentration of disulphide compounds; and contacting the fourth alkaline solution with the second stream of heavy hydrocarbons containing more than 80 wt. % of naphtha compounds and also containing mercaptans, to remove mercaptans from second hydrocarbon stream, to remove disulphide compounds from fourth alkaline solution and to form first alkaline solution.
EFFECT: disclosed are methods of purifying hydrocarbon streams containing mercaptans.
