SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of removing residual sulfur compounds from enriched liquid alkali, wherein in a single column containing two reaction zones, mercaptans are catalytically oxidised to disulphide oils. Second reaction zone uses a bundle of vertical hanging fibers and operates as a gas continuous phase containing from about 20 to about 100 vol% of steam.
EFFECT: this method is especially suitable for use as part of process scheme of hydrocarbon desulphuration method.
