FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of removing oxygenates from a butadiene stream leaving the reactor, which includes passing butadiene stream (12) leaving the reactor to quenching tower (30); cooling and quenching the butadiene stream leaving the reactor to form a C4 hydrocarbon-containing overhead stream (32) and bottoms stream (34) containing a solvent and oxygenates; passing bottom stream (34) into stripping column (60) of oxygenates; passing head stream (32) into scrubber (50) of oxygenates to form purified stream (52) C4 and scrubber bottom stream (54); passing purified stream (52) C4 to absorber (70) C4 to form head stream (72) of absorber containing inert gas, and bottom stream (74) of absorber containing compounds C4 and solvent, wherein said head stream (72) of the absorber provides an inert gas for use in the oxygenates stripping column (60); and passing inert gas (72) into stripping column (60) of oxygenates, and forming head stream (62) of a stripping column containing oxygenates and an inert gas, and bottom stream (64) of a stripping column containing a solvent. Oxygenates are stripped from the solvent with inert gas to reduce power consumption of the method, and the solvent is recycled and reused in the method.

EFFECT: disclosed is the use of absorber C4 for stripping aldehydes.
