SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental monitoring of natural objects and a method of determining specific weight of films of oil products on a water surface based on hyperspectral data of remote probing of the Earth. Method includes use for determination of specific weight of classes of chromaticity of films, installed on the basis of original spectral features, revealed as a result of investigation of laws of change of coefficients of spectral brightness of water surface in narrow bands of visible and near infrared ranges of electromagnetic spectrum, which are manifested during contamination of water objects with films of oil products of different chromaticity.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency and reliability of obtained information.
