FIELD: veterinary medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary science and agriculture and represents a method for production of a fodder additive for use in farm animals feeding, which includes sequential mixing in a propionic acid reactor, sodium bichromate and propylene glycol to obtain liquid 100 % chromium (III) propionate and spraying onto an inert carrier, wherein for complete transition of chromium to chromium (III) propionate propionic acid and propylene glycol are taken in excess, wherein propanol acid and sodium bichromate are first mixed, the mixture is heated to a temperature of not less than 70 °C, then adding propylene glycol in parts, wherein concentration of propionic acid is not less than 99.5 %, and concentration of propylene glycol is not less than 99 %, then heating is stopped, reaction mixture is held for self-heating to temperature of not less than 130 °C, after which the obtained liquid chromium propionate is poured into a container, and then an inert carrier is filled in the mixer and chrome propionate is sputtered on it for at least 5 minutes, and then finally mixing ingredients for at least 15 minutes to ensure uniformity of mixture after sputtering, wherein the initial ingredients are taken in certain proportions, wt%.

EFFECT: invention provides a pure fodder preparation based on chromium (III) propionate without harmful by-products with stability of the process of production thereof.
