FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fodder composition for farm animals, to such composition production method and to a method for the composition microbial growth inhibition. The fodder composition has pH less than 5.5 and contains lactic acid in an amount of 0.1 - 3 wt %. The composition is represented by dry cat or dog fodder. For the composition production, one mixed wet and dry ingredients at an increased temperature to obtain a dough-like granule mass which is extruded at a high temperature and under a high pressure; extruded granules are dried with dried granules glazed with liquid and/or dry ingredients Lactic acid is applied onto granules at the mixing and/or glazing stage in an amount of 0.1 - 3% of the composition weight.
EFFECT: usage of lactic acid in the specified quantity in the fodder composition with pH less than 5,5 is effective for imparting an antimicrobial effect to the composition.
