IMPROVED PURITY OF MATERIALS OBTAINED DURING PROCESSING OF DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT ARTICLES Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC B29B17/02 B29B17/04 B09B3/00 C08J11/08

Abstract RU 2694344 C1

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of increasing purity and quality of materials, including synthetic materials, recoverable by processing disposable absorbent articles, namely a simple and cost-effective method of separating disposable absorbent articles, removal of fluid absorbed by superabsorbent polymers (SAP) and recovery of constituent materials such as polymer, cellulose fibers and superabsorbent polymer. Method of improving recovery by processing a disposable absorbent article containing a superabsorbent polymer involves: separation of product into mixed flow of polymer material/cellulose fiber and flow of superabsorbent polymer/fibers and treatment of mixed flow of polymer material/cellulose fiber with application of enzyme with release of cellulose fibers from polymer materials. Method may also include grinding a disposable absorbent article, re-converting the ground disposable absorbent article into a fibrous mass and dehydrating the superabsorbent polymer, where dehydration involves extraction of fluid medium from swollen superabsorbent polymers (SAP) by immersing swollen SAP in gel state into composition for removing moisture, for which sea water and 0.5–3 % by weight of calcium chloride in terms of weight of sea water are mixed during period from 10 minutes to 4 hours.

EFFECT: invention reduces number and amount of hazardous chemicals used in processing, and increases purity and quality of materials recovered from disposable absorbent articles to be processed.
