FIELD: absorbent products.

SUBSTANCE: absorbent article that has a liquid retention system is comprised of a liquid permeable lining material facing the body; an outer surface layer impermeable for liquid; an absorbent core located between the lining material and the outer surface layer, wherein the absorbent core is comprised of a superabsorbent material and optionally fluff cellulose; and a core cover at least partially surrounding the absorbent core, wherein the core cover is comprised of a three-dimensionally structured wet laid cellulosic non-woven fabric. The fibers of the non-woven fabric constitute only cellulosic fibers, and the core cover contains opposing surfaces of the core cover, wherein each of the surfaces has a textured surface. Each surface is comprised of a middle plane of the material, multiple protrusions extending in the z-direction from the middle plane of the material, and multiple grooves alternating with the multiple protrusions, wherein the depth of the grooves is extending in the opposite z-direction from the middle plane of the material.

EFFECT: improved liquid retention in an absorbent product.
