FIELD: image forming devices.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a display device which provides three-dimensional perception. Display device (140) comprises an image forming unit (142) comprising a two-dimensional subpixel matrix of the image, configured to emit light when presenting associated visual information, and optical system (144) comprising a matrix of diffractive optical elements (150) associated with respective subpixels of an image of an image subpixel matrix. Each diffractive optical element is configured to diffract light from the associated subpixel of the image into a diffraction pattern comprising a plurality of diffraction orders, to provide visual information from the associated subpixel of the image to a plurality of directional viewing regions associated with the plurality of diffraction orders. Matrix of diffractive optical elements comprises multiple subsets of diffractive optical elements. Diffractive optical elements from each subset of the diffractive optical elements are configured to form a diffraction pattern from the associated diffractive optical element for the associated subset preset direction, wherein preset directions of different subsets are different to provide visual information from subpixels of images associated with different subsets in the area of directional viewing in different directions to provide a user with a view in three-dimensional perception in each of the plurality of directional viewing regions.

EFFECT: invention provides reduced weight and thickness of the device.
