FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a nitrogen-generating composition of volumetric fire extinguishing and a method for production thereof. Nitrogen-generating composition containing alkali metal azide, heavy metal oxide, combustion modifier in form of aluminium oxide modified with cobalt (II) nitrate, with promoting additives of nickel oxide and copper oxide and a humidifier, is obtained by stage-by-stage mixing of dry components with a humidifier and combination of the obtained mixtures. Prior to formation of granules from obtained mass, it is dried to maximum possible removal of solvent residues.
EFFECT: technical result is elimination of content of free sodium in gaseous phase and metallic sodium in combustion products slime, reduced concentration of toxic gases behind section of fire extinguishing generator nozzle, reduced pressure in combustion chamber and temperature of gas jet, increased gas output of generator and thus increased safety of operation and efficiency of fire extinguishing.
