SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to biotechnology, specifically to production of antimicrobial peptides, and can be used in medicine for treating or preventing bacterial and fungal infections. Polypeptide P10 containing the LAREYKKIVEKLKRWLRQVLRTLR sequence is highly effective against drug-resistant gram-positive bacteria, for example, Staphylococcus aureus, and gram-negative bacteria, for example, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as fungi, for example, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. In addition, P10 is able to prevent the formation of methicillin-resistant S. aureus biofilm on plastic as well as biotic surfaces. P10 also neutralises endotoxins of lipoteichoic acid (LTA), peptidoglycan (PG) and lipopolysaccharides (LPS), thereby reducing the pro-inflammatory response.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an agent with high antimicrobial activity against microorganisms, including those localized in biofilms, with optimal anti-inflammatory (neutralization of microbial compounds) activity, as evidenced by activity aimed at neutralization of endotoxins, with high selectivity and acceptable low cytotoxicity, as well as with activity aimed at intensifying the immune response.
