FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to formation of functional coatings on steel surface, having high resistance to corrosion destruction and wear. Proposed method comprises successive supersonic cold gas-dynamic spraying of composite powder particles by supersonic gas jet onto steel surface and micro-arc oxidation. Powder is applied onto the steel surface by supersonic cold gas-dynamic sputtering consisting of 20 % corundum with particle size of 50–100 mcm and 80 % of aluminium powder with particle size smaller than 15 mcm reinforced with 70 % nanosized corundum particles. Then micro-arc oxidation of surface is performed with formation of ceramic alumina coating. In particular cases of invention implementation air is used as working gas during spraying. To exclude the formation of a process amorphous film on the coating, micro-arc oxidation of the sputtered underlayer is carried out in an electrolyte based on boric acid containing 20–30 g/l of boric acid and 3–7 g/l of potassium hydroxide.
EFFECT: providing wear- and corrosion-resistant coating, having low porosity, high adhesion and having on the surface a hardened layer formed by micro-arc oxidation.
