FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and represents a method for determining degree of infectious joint contamination in patients with periprosthetic infection for reasonable selection of required surgical treatment, involving sampling of periarticular exudate followed by laboratory examination, characterized in that extracted fluid of periarticular exudate is divided into three parts for three laboratory tests: determining leukocytosis, determining the percentage of neutrophils and determining the concentration of colonies of pathogenic microorganism in the volume of the analyzed liquid and if observing the following values: leukocyte level less than 10,000×10/9 mcl; neutrophil level less than 80 %; concentration of colonies of pathogenic microorganisms of less than 10*4 CFU/ml; diagnosing a low degree of contaminated joint; leukocyte level from 10,000 to 20,000×10/9 mcl; neutrophil level 80 to 90 %; concentration of colonies of pathogenic microorganism from 10*4 to 10*5 CFU/ml; diagnosing a medium degree of contaminated joint; leukocyte level more than 20,000×10/9; neutrophil count more than 90%; concentration of colonies of pathogenic microorganism more than 10*5 CFU /ml; diagnosing severe degree of contaminated joint infection.
EFFECT: use of the declared invention enables fast and accurate determination of the degree of contamination of the infected joint and selection of the required surgical aid in each specific case.
