FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and can be used in production of rod targets for production of isotope Mo-99. Method of producing target for production of isotope Mo-99 includes making shell blank and rear plug, obtaining ingot of uranium-aluminum alloy with solid phase in form of intermetallic compound UAl4 or mixture of intermetallic compounds UAl3 and UAl4 with particle size of not more than 150 mcm, ingot molding into rod with ingot pre-heating to temperature of 480–520 °C, cutting into billets and rod treatment, vacuum annealing of obtained core billet at temperature of 580 °C to 620 °C for at least 1 hour, billet assembly, compaction of prefabricated billet with core area making not more than 0.95 of design value obtained from condition of layers equalization at pressing, with its preliminary heating to temperature of 380–420 °C and final finishing of pressed target. Calibration of assembled billet after assembly is performed by pushing through unit with three dies with squeezing of shell billet along billet of core and back plug with deformation along wall thickness, excluding deformation of billet core, performing transfer of calibration force through end of rear plug. Heating of ingot and prefabricated billet is carried out in salt furnace or electric resistance furnace before pressing.
EFFECT: invention allows fabricating a target for Mo-99 production with minimum number of alloying elements.
