FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of monitoring and controlling an extruder and a twin-screw extruder. Method of adjusting double-screw extruder (1), comprising two mutually engaged augers (20) for conveying material to be extruded, comprises steps of: when processing extruder material to be extruded: viscosity of material in flow inside extruder is continuously measured and extruder is controlled on the basis of corresponding measured readings of viscosity. To control the extruder in an efficient manner with high efficiency, based on the measured viscosity readings, the flow rate of the material filling the extruder along the mutually engaged augers is varied by adjusting the flow section for the material in a downstream position relative to said screws. Double-screw extruder comprises housing with two mutually engaged augers arranged therein to rotate therein to advance material to be extruded therein, measuring device for measuring viscosity of material in flow inside extruder and outlet device with flow channel for outlet material, wherein adjusting means are provided to regulate passage section of flow channel, thus changing level of housing filling with material.

EFFECT: technical result achieved by using group of inventions is to provide more effective monitoring and control of extruder to produce finished extruded material of controlled quality.
