FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a wear-resistant coating for a cutting tool, involving vacuum-plasma application of a coating of nitride or carbonitride of titanium, molybdenum, aluminium, silicon and chromium at a ratio of %: titanium 38.6, molybdenum 13.9, aluminium 12.1, silicon 1.2, chromium 34.2, by means of horizontally located in one plane of three cathodes, the first of which is made of molybdenum and an alloy of aluminium and silicon, second one is made of chromium and arranged opposite to the first one, and the third one is made of titanium and placed between the first and the second cathodes.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cutting tool with applied coating.
