FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: wear-resistant coating out of titanium nitride or carbonitride, silicon, aluminium, chrome and molybdenum is applied by vacuum plasma method at the ratio, wt %: titanium 56.63, silicon 0.84, aluminium 9.42, chrome 28.97, molybdenum 4.14. Coating is applied by three cathodes arranged horizontally in the same plane. First cathode is made of titanium, silicon and aluminium alloy, second cathode is composed of chrome and molybdenum and opposed to the first cathode, while third cathode is made of titanium and positioned between the first and second cathodes.
EFFECT: higher cutting tool efficiency.
