SUBSTANCE: invention relates to light industry and relates to a carpet base for latex-free tufting carpets. Latex-free tufting carpet comprises pile threads pierced into the carpet primary base, the pile threads essentially consisting of a first thermoplastic polymer selected from polyamide, polyester or polyolefin, wherein the first polymer has a first melting point, and the pile seams from the pile threads are at least partially melted to achieve knotting in the latex-free tufting mat after cooling the molten string seams to room temperature, wherein the primary carpet base comprises at least a first layer of fibers, wherein the carpet primary base is at least 30 wt. % of one or more low-melting polymers belonging to same family of polymers, to which the first polymer contained in the pile threads belongs, and where each of the one or more low-melting polymers belonging to the same family of polymers and contained in the primary carpet base, has a melting point which is equal to or less than the first melting point.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an improved primary carpet base in a harsh carpet to obtain improved latex-free tufting carpets.
