FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical, oil refining industry. To obtain sulphuric acid, the hydrogen sulphide-containing gas is burnt to form a process gas containing sulphur dioxide and water. Then it is cooled and subjected to two-step conversion in contact device in the presence of layers of vanadium oxide catalyst oxidation of sulphur dioxide while maintaining temperature of gas supply to first stage of conversion 400–410 °C. First conversion step gas having temperature of 450–460 °C is directed directly to absorption in a condenser tower with removal of sulphuric acid and gas therefrom. After heating, said gas is fed into a contact apparatus at a second conversion stage at 410–415 °C. Second stage gas after its cooling to 150–155 °C is fed for absorption into monohydrate absorber to produce sulphuric acid and purified exhaust gas.
EFFECT: invention enables to reduce corrosion of the apparatus and formation of corrosion products, which reduce the quality of the end product, reduce the amount of fog of sulphuric acid formed during the absorption process.
