FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is absorbing composite foam material, characterized by density below 0.04 g/cm3 and low compression ratio in wet condition, containing (i) from approximately 5 to approximately 40 wt. % of fibers resistant to fluid medium; (ii) from about 30 to about 80 wt. % of cellulose fibers; (iii) from about 5 to about 35 wt. % binder and (iv) a foaming surfactant.
EFFECT: combination of ultra-low density and resistance to moisture is achieved, despite high relative content of cellulose fibers, due to presence of both hydrogen bonding between cellulose fibers, and interfibrillar bonds formed by binder.
