FIELD: pulp and paper industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foamed fibrous sheets with crimped staple fibers. Method of producing a high-volume foamed substrate involves producing a water-based foam containing at least 1 % by weight of crimped synthetic fibers and at least 1 % by weight of binder fibers; formation of wet sheet from water-based foam; and drying wet sheet to produce foamed substrate. Substrate comprises water-based polymer foam containing at least 1 % by weight of crimped synthetic fiber and at least 1 % by weight of binder fiber, note here that said substrate does not contain super-absorbent material. Method of producing a high-volume foamed substrate involves preparing a water-based foam containing at least 2 % by weight of crimped binder fibers; formation of wet sheet from water-based foam; and drying wet sheet to produce foamed substrate, wherein foamed substrate does not contain superabsorbent material, and wherein the substrate has a dry density of 0.02 g/cm3 to 0.1 g/cm3.

EFFECT: using technologies and methods of present invention can improve properties of paper web, such as volume, extensibility, thickness and/or absorbing capacity without need to subject web to fast transfer process or creping process.
